El ostrero canario es posiblemente una especie extinta que habitaba las Islas Canarias y el noroeste de África. El último avistamiento confirmado fue en 1913. Tenía plumaje negro con pico anaranjado. Se extinguió probablemente debido a la caza excesiva y la perturbación humana. Su taxonomía ha sido debatida; algunos autores lo consideran una subespecie del ostrero negro africano. Es una de las pocas extinciones documentadas de ostreros.
