El petrel de tormenta europeo es el petrel más pequeño de Europa. Tiene plumaje negro con la rabadilla blanca. Anida en madrigueras y grietas en las costas rocosas de las islas atlánticas desde Islandia hasta las Islas Canarias. Se alimenta de pequeños peces, crustáceos y plancton en alta mar. Visita el nido de noche. Las ratas y los gatos ferales en las islas de cría son las principales amenazas.
