La perdiz de cabeza sangrienta es una perdiz endémica de los bosques de Borneo, con la cabeza y el cuello rojos brillantes y el cuerpo marrón. Mide unos 25 cm. Habita en bosques primarios húmedos de tierras bajas y colinas. Se alimenta de semillas, frutos e insectos en el suelo del bosque. Especie amenazada por la deforestación extensiva en Borneo. Pertenece a la familia Phasianidae.

Habitat & Range
Distribución geográfica
Endemic to Borneo; resident of hill and lower montane forest in Sabah, Sarawak, and Kalimantan, mainly at 300–1,500 m.
Diet & Feeding
Forages in Bornean hill forest for seeds, fruits, and invertebrates; scratches leaf litter on steep slopes.
