El ánsar chico o ganso careto chico es el más pequeño de los gansos árticos y está en peligro de extinción. Tiene el mismo patrón que el ánsar careto pero más pequeño, con un anillo ocular amarillo llamativo. Cría en la tundra del norte de Eurasia y migra al sur para pasar el invierno. Su población ha declinado drásticamente en las últimas décadas por la caza excesiva y la pérdida de hábitat.

Similar to but smaller than Greater White-fronted Goose; more extensive white forehead reaching above eyes. Distinctive yellow eye-ring. Dark brown-gray body with black belly bars. Pink bill; orange legs.
Habitat & Range
Breeds on low-arctic and subarctic willow scrub and tundra across northern Eurasia. Winters on agricultural steppes and wetlands in Azerbaijan, Iran, Greece, and eastern Asia. Mixes with White-fronted Goose flocks.
