Acerca de
El barnacla brenta o barnacla negruzca es un pequeño ganso marino de color negro y gris oscuro con un pequeño parche blanco a los lados del cuello. Cría en la tundra ártica y migra a zonas costeras templadas del hemisferio norte en invierno, donde se alimenta principalmente de zostera, un tipo de hierba marina. Es el único ganso que pasa el invierno en ambientes exclusivamente marinos.

Small; mostly black head, neck, and breast. Small white neck-patch on adults. Back dark brownish-gray; belly pale gray to white depending on subspecies. White undertail coverts. Sexes similar.
Habitat & Range
Breeds on high-Arctic tundra; winters on estuaries, coastal mudflats, saltmarshes, and sea-grass beds along Atlantic and Pacific coastlines. One of the most strictly coastal wintering geese.

Breeds across boreal and subarctic Canada and Alaska; winters in the southern United States, Mexico, and Central America.

Primarily herbivorous; grazes aquatic plants, grasses, and sedges; swans upend in shallow water for submerged vegetation.
