O pato-fusco-da-sibéria é um grande pato marinho encontrado principalmente na Ásia Oriental. Os machos têm plumagem preta com mancha branca embaixo do olho e bico elaborado com tubérculo proeminente e ponta amarela-laranjada. Cria em lagos florestais da Sibéria e hiberna em costas marinhas do Japão, Coreia e China. Foi recentemente separado do pato-fusco-de-asa-branca como espécie distinta com base em diferenças de morfologia e genética.

Plumagem
Male is uniformly black with white secondaries forming wing patch; orange-yellow bill has large black knob at base and pale yellow tip. Female dark brown with paler facial patches and whitish wing speculum.
Habitat & Range
Distribuição geográfica
Breeds in boreal forests and tundra of central and eastern Siberia. Winters along the coasts of Japan, Korea, and northeastern China.
Diet & Feeding
Dives for bivalves, crustaceans, and aquatic invertebrates in coastal East Asian waters. Diet similar to other Melanitta scoters.
