O ganso-de-testa-branca é um ganso cinzento médio com uma característica faixa branca na frente da cabeça e barras pretas irregulares no ventre. Tem distribuição circumolar na tundra ártica onde cria, hibernando mais ao sul. As duas subespécies principais diferem no tamanho do bico e hibernam em diferentes regiões. Alimenta-se de plantas de tundra durante a criação e de pasto e culturas nas suas áreas de hibernada. É uma espécie cinegética amplamente caçada.

Brown-gray body with white forehead patch bordered by white band at bill base. Underparts with bold irregular black bars on belly. Orange bill; orange-yellow legs. Juveniles lack white front and belly bars.
Habitat & Range
Breeds on Arctic and subarctic tundra and peatlands. Winters on estuaries, agricultural fields, freshwater marshes, and flooded meadows across Europe, Asia, and North America. One of the most widespread geese.

Breeds in the potholes region of the northern Great Plains; winters in the southern United States and along the Gulf Coast.
