O painho-das-Galápagos cria nas ilhas Galápagos e na ilha Galo do Peru, e passa o inverno no Pacífico oriental. Tem plumagem negro-acastanhada com a rabadilla branca e cauda quadrada ou ligeiramente bifurcada. Alimenta-se de crustáceos pelágicos e pequenos ovos de peixes. É um painho-das-tempestades comum no Pacífico oriental.
