A pintada-de-Verreaux habita nas florestas do oeste de África, principalmente na Serra Leoa, Libéria e Costa do Marfim. Semelhante a outras pintadas com a plumagem escura salpicada de branco e características faciais coloridas. Alimenta-se no solo de sementes, frutos e invertebrados. Resident in West Africa from Côte d'Ivoire to Nigeria. Found in forest, forest-savanna mosaic, and secondary growth.

Omnivorous; forages in West African forests and savanna for invertebrates, seeds, and small fruits. Scratches ground in flocks.
