La orinoquense o ganso del Orinoco es un ganso de América del Sur con la cabeza y el cuello de color canela claro y el cuerpo de color negro y blanco con partes de color castaño. Habita en orillas de ríos, lagunas y pantanos de la cuenca del Orinoco y el Amazonas, en Venezuela, Colombia, Brasil y el Perú. Es una especie poco común y está clasificada como casi amenazada.

Pale cream-buff head and neck; chestnut-brown breast and flanks. Back dark brown; belly pale cream. Wings with iridescent green speculum and white inner secondaries. Bill dark; legs reddish-orange. Sexes similar.

Tropical rivers, river islands, sandy beaches, and adjacent gallery forest in the Amazon and Orinoco basins. Nests in tree cavities or on the ground near rivers. Associated with braided river channels.
