El pato anteado o pato de collar es un pequeño y vistoso pato de Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil y Bolivia. El macho tiene la cabeza de color gris y el pecho marrón-rojizo con un delicado collar gris, y la hembra tiene marcas faciales blancas. Habita en lagunas, pantanos y arroyos de agua dulce con vegetación, frecuentemente en áreas abiertas o semiboscosas.

Plumaje
Males have gray head with black crown; pink breast with black spots; chestnut back; buff-white flanks with fine barring. White facial blaze. Females brown with pale supercilium and white spots on flanks.
Habitat & Range
Subtropical forests, gallery woodlands, and wooded wetland margins in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and northeastern Argentina. Nests in tree hollows near water. Requires forested streams and rivers.
Distribución geográfica
Breeds in the southern Palearctic from the Iberian Peninsula to Central Asia; winters mainly in sub-Saharan Africa.

Eats seeds, plant material, and aquatic invertebrates; filter-feeds in shallow water; broadly omnivorous and seasonally variable.
