Lachender Hans
Brown upperparts with blue patches on the wings and rump. Creamy white head and underparts with a dark eye stripe. Dark brown tail with rufous barring.

Der Lachende Hans ist der größte Eisvogel der Welt und berühmt für seinen schallenden, lachähnlichen Ruf, der zu einem unverkennbaren Klang des australischen Busches geworden ist. Obwohl er zu den Eisvögeln zählt, frisst er nur selten Fisch und bevorzugt Beute vom Boden. Familiengruppen stimmen bei Sonnenauf- und -untergang gemeinsame Rufchöre an, um ihr Revier zu markieren.

Der Helmkasuar wird aufgrund seiner kräftigen Beine und der dolchartigen inneren Kralle, die bis zu 12 cm lang werden kann, oft als gefährlichster Vogel der Welt bezeichnet.
