Der Lachende Hans ist der größte Eisvogel der Welt und berühmt für seinen schallenden, lachähnlichen Ruf, der zu einem unverkennbaren Klang des australischen Busches geworden ist. Schuhschnabel
Der Schuhschnabel ist wegen seines urzeitlichen Erscheinungsbilds und seines gewaltigen Schnabels einer der begehrtesten Vögel für Vogelbeobachter in Afrika. Er kann stundenlang reglos verharren, bevor er nach vorne stößt, um Beute mit seinem riesigen Schnabel zu ergreifen. Trotz einer Körpergröße von über einem Meter wiegt der Schuhschnabel dank seiner hohlen Knochen vergleichsweise wenig.
