Die Amerikanerkrähe ist einer der bekanntesten und intelligentesten Vögel Nordamerikas. Untersuchungen zeigen, dass sie einzelne menschliche Gesichter wiedererkennen und wahrgenommene Bedrohungen an andere Krähen weitergeben können. In manchen Städten bilden sie riesige Winterschlafplätze mit bis zu Hunderttausenden Individuen.

Emu

Der Emu ist der zweitgrößte lebende Vogel und der größte in Australien heimische Vogel. Er ist der einzige Vogel mit ausgeprägten Wadenmuskeln, die kraftvolles Laufen mit bis zu 50 km/h ermöglichen. Im berühmten „Emu-Krieg“ von 1932 wurde das australische Militär gegen erntefressende Emus eingesetzt – und die Emus gingen den meisten Berichten zufolge als Sieger hervor.
