In manchen Städten bilden sie riesige Winterschlafplätze mit bis zu Hunderttausenden Individuen.
Strauß
Der Strauß ist mit einer Höhe von bis zu 2,7 Metern und einem Gewicht von bis zu 145 kg der größte lebende Vogel der Welt. Obwohl flugunfähig, ist er der schnellste Vogel an Land und erreicht Geschwindigkeiten von bis zu 70 km/h. Straußeneier sind mit einem Gewicht von jeweils etwa 1,4 kg die größten aller lebenden Vögel.
