青头潜鸭是东亚特有的濒危潜鸭，繁殖于中国东北和西伯利亚东部，越冬于中国南部及东南亚。雄鸟头部绿黑色富有光泽，眼睛白色，胸部栗褐色；雌鸟褐色。由于湿地丧失和过度猎捕，种群数量已极度减少，被列为极危物种，估计野生数量不足1000只。
