A medium-large Phasianidae pheasant (~1.02 kg) of lowland dipterocarp forest in peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Males are rufous-chestnut with a distinctive bare red orbital patch; lacks a crest. Forages on seeds, fruits, and invertebrates on the forest floor. Critically Endangered from severe lowland deforestation.
