O parreco-de-doistons é um pato assobiadeiro de distribuição mundial tropical, encontrado na América do Sul e Central, África subsariana, subcontinente indiano e Burma. É um dos poucos pássaros com uma distribuição tão disjunta. Tem coloração castanho-avermelhada rica com flancos estriados de branco e creme e penas traseiras estriadas. Habita zonas húmidas tropicais e arrozais. Como outros parrecos, é muito vocal com assobios característicos em voo.

Warm fulvous-buff underparts with creamy white flank stripes. Upperparts dark brown with pale buff feather edges. Dark brown stripe down back of neck. Long bluish-gray legs. Sexes identical.
Habitat & Range
Freshwater marshes, rice paddies, flooded fields, shallow lakes, and river margins across warm tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, Africa, and South Asia. Highly nomadic, following rains.

Breeds across Eurasia from Iceland and western Europe to eastern Siberia; winters from Britain to the Mediterranean and South Asia.

Grazes grasses and sedges in Arctic tundra; large migratory goose; winter diet dominated by agricultural grain and pasture grass.
