O ganso-dos-kelps é um ganso pequeno das costas rochosas da patagónia e Terra do Fogo. Existe um marcante dimorfismo sexual: os machos são completamente brancos enquanto as fêmeas são castanho-escuro com barramento branco. Habita costas marinhas rochosas onde se alimenta de algas e outros organismos marinhos. É um dos poucos gansos a depender fortemente de alimentos marinhos. Nidifica em encostas próximas à costa e defende territórios costeiros durante todo o ano.
