Uma perdiz robusta da família Phasianidae, amplamente distribuída na Ásia e introduzida em muitas partes do mundo. A Chucar (Alectoris chukar) habita encostas rochosas e áridas, matagais e ambientes montanhosos desde a Europa Oriental ao Extremo Oriente. Mede aproximadamente 32-35 cm. Caracterizada pelo colar preto distinto, flancos barrados e bico e pernas vermelhos. Introduzida na América do Norte, Nova Zelândia e outras regiões para caça. Alimenta-se principalmente de sementes e plantas. Classificada como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.

Grey-brown upperparts; white face and throat with clean black gorget without streaks; bold chestnut and white barred flanks; grey breast; red bill and legs. Closely resembles Red-legged Partridge but lacks streaked gorget.
