A medium Phasianidae partridge (~573 g) of rocky, arid hillsides from southeastern Europe to the Himalayas. Pale grey-buff with bold black-barred flanks and a black face necklace. Gregarious in winter coveys. Feeds on seeds, grass, and invertebrates. Widely introduced as a gamebird worldwide; Least Concern.

Plumaje
Grey-brown upperparts; white face and throat with clean black gorget without streaks; bold chestnut and white barred flanks; grey breast; red bill and legs. Closely resembles Red-legged Partridge but lacks streaked gorget.

Resident of rocky semi-arid hillsides from southeastern Europe and Turkey east through Central Asia to China; introduced widely in North America.
