쇠두루미는 가장 작은 두루미 종이지만 가장 혹독한 이동을 하며, 해발 8,000m 이상의 히말라야를 넘어 인도의 월동지로 향한다. 우아한 외모로 마리 앙투아네트에게 명명되었으며 세계에서 두 번째로 풍부한 두루미 종이다.

흑두루미(Grus monacha)는 동아시아산 97–100cm의 중형 두루미다. 짙은 슬레이트회색 몸통에 흰 목과 머리, 맨살 붉은 정수리가 뚜렷하게 대비된다. 시베리아와 중국 북부에서 번식하고 일본·한국·양쯔강 유역 습지에서 월동한다. 취약종으로 전 세계 개체수 약 11,000마리다.
