コロンビアからペルーにかけてのアンデス山地林（標高900〜2,500 m）に生息する小型ハチドリ（体長10〜11 cm）。緑色の羽衣とふわふわした白い脚の羽毛が特徴。山地林の下層を採食する蜜食性。脚の綿のような房からフサアシハチドリと名付けられた。
