El calzadito oscuro es un colibrí de Colombia y Ecuador, con plumaje verde oscuro y las patas emplumadas con penachos grises. Habita en bosques montanos húmedos y bordes de bosque en las laderas andinas. Se alimenta de néctar de diversas flores y pequeños insectos. Especie de distribución restringida en los Andes occidentales. Como todos los calzaditos, lleva plumas características en las patas que sobresalen en vuelo.
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
The ruby-throated hummingbird is the only breeding hummingbird in eastern North America. These tiny birds beat their wings about 53 times per second and can fly backwards, sideways, and even briefly upside down. They make an extraordinary non-stop 800 km crossing of the Gulf of Mexico during migration.
