El corbatero es una cotinga de tamaño mediano de América del Sur tropical. El macho tiene plumaje principalmente negro azulado con manchas de plumas plateadas en el cuello que forman una peculiar 'corbata'. La hembra es parda. Mide unos 33 cm. Habita en bosques de várzea y selvas tropicales a lo largo de los grandes ríos amazónicos. Se alimenta principalmente de frutos. Vive en grupos en el dosel forestal.

The Black-chested Fruiteater is a strikingly colored cotinga of Andean cloud forests in Ecuador and northern Peru, with males displaying a vivid yellow-and-green body and a broad black breast band. It inhabits the mid-story and canopy of humid montane forests at elevations between 1,500 and 2,800 meters. It feeds primarily on small fruits and berries.
