Emú, 150-190 cm, hasta 60 kg. Segunda ave más grande del mundo. Plumaje pardo grisáceo, alas vestigiales, poderosas patas con tres dedos. Endémico de Australia. Omnívoro. Macho incuba y cuida las crías. Preocupación menor.

Picogordo

El picogordo es un pinzón de gran tamaño con un pico enorme y poderoso adaptado para partir semillas duras. Tiene plumaje marrón-anaranjado con alas negras y blancas. Mide unos 16-18 cm. Habita en bosques caducifolios y mixtos de Europa, Asia central y este asiático. Se alimenta principalmente de semillas de cerezo, acebo y olivo, que puede partir con su robusto pico. Especie tímida y difícil de observar a pesar de su gran tamaño entre los pinzones.
