La pintada de plumas es una especie de África Central con plumaje negro punteado de blanco y una cresta de plumas largas y rizadas en la coronilla. Habita en bosques densos y bordes de bosques de la cuenca del Congo y regiones adyacentes. Se alimenta de semillas, frutas e invertebrados en el suelo. Vive en grupos sociales y produce llamadas ruidosas. Comparte hábitat con otros francolinos y pintadas en los bosques de África Central.

Dark grey-black with white spotting on body; bare blue-grey facial skin; distinctive upright black plume-like feathers on top of head forming crest; no casque; red-blue wattles small.
Habitat & Range
Distribución geográfica
Resident in Central Africa from Cameroon and Gabon east to Uganda and western Democratic Republic of Congo. Found in lowland and foothill rainforest.
Diet & Feeding
Forages in Central African rainforests for invertebrates, seeds, and fallen fruits. Scratches leaf litter in small groups.
