Acerca de
Picoespina de cabeza rufa (Chalcostigma ruficeps), 10–11 cm. Corona y nuca de color rufo brillante, contrastando con el plumaje verde del cuerpo. Macho con garganta verde iridiscente. Habita en bordes de bosque y zonas arbustivas de los Andes del sur de Colombia, Ecuador y Perú.

Found on the eastern Andean slope from Ecuador south to Bolivia in lower montane forest. 1,200–2,600 m elevation.

Nectarivore of Peruvian and Bolivian puna; forages at Chuquiraga and low shrubs. Catches tiny arthropods.
