Colibrí estrellado de Berlepsch (Chaetocercus berlepschi), 6–7 cm. Pequeño colibrí de garganta violácea brillante en el macho; partes superiores verde metálico; vientre blanquecino. Endémico de Ecuador y norte de Perú. Habita en bordes de selva montañosa. Especie poco conocida y escasa.

Distribución geográfica
Endemic to western Ecuador in the Chocó lowlands and foothills. Classified as Endangered due to severe deforestation.

Critically rare; feeds on nectar from flowering shrubs in Ecuadorian lowland forest. Takes small insects and spiders for protein.
