Cucal violáceo (Centropus violaceus), 36–42 cm. Plumaje negro con intenso brillo violáceo-azulado en cabeza y partes inferiores; alas y dorso castaño. Endémico del Archipiélago de Bismarck (Papúa Nueva Guinea). Habita en bosques de tierras bajas. Se alimenta de insectos y pequeños vertebrados.
