Männchen versammeln sich an traditionellen Balzbäumen, um kunstvolle Balztänze aufzuführen, wobei sie kopfüber hängen und ihre spektakulären Flankenfedern schütteln. Alfred Russel Wallace beschrieb die Art erstmals 1873.
