Der Kanadareiher ist mit einer Höhe von bis zu 1,4 Metern der größte Reiher Nordamerikas. Diese geduldigen Jäger können lange Zeit reglos verharren, bevor sie mit bemerkenswerter Geschwindigkeit nach Beute stoßen. Sie brüten in großen Kolonien, sogenannten Reiherkolonien, und kehren oft Jahr für Jahr an denselben Ort zurück.

Raggiparadiesvogel

Der Raggiparadiesvogel ist der Nationalvogel von Papua-Neuguinea und ziert die Nationalflagge sowie das Staatswappen. Männchen versammeln sich an traditionellen Balzbäumen, um kunstvolle Balztänze aufzuführen, wobei sie kopfüber hängen und ihre spektakulären Flankenfedern schütteln. Alfred Russel Wallace beschrieb die Art erstmals 1873.
