Der Kanadareiher ist mit einer Höhe von bis zu 1,4 Metern der größte Reiher Nordamerikas. Er ist der Nationalvogel Israels und spielt in der Mythologie von der ägyptischen Antike bis zum Koran eine bedeutende Rolle.
