In der britischen Folklore gilt der Zaunkönig als König der Vögel, weil er den Adler in einem Flugwettbewerb überlistete.

Der Rotkardinal ist der Wappenvogel von sieben US-Bundesstaaten – mehr als jede andere Art. Anders als bei vielen Singvögeln singen sowohl Männchen als auch Weibchen, häufig im Duett.
