Männchen singen komplexe Strophen mit über 250 verschiedenen Typen, oft nachts während der Brutzeit. Trotz ihres berühmten Gesangs ist die Nachtigall unscheinbar gefärbt und hält sich verborgen im dichten Unterholz auf.
Japanbrillenvogel
Der Japanbrillenvogel ist in ganz Ostasien ein vertrauter Gartenvogel und wird in Japan, wo er „Mejiro“ genannt wird, besonders geschätzt. Diese geselligen Vögel bilden außerhalb der Brutzeit Schwärme und sind wichtige Bestäuber von Pflaumen- und Kirschblüten. Auf Hawaii eingeführte Populationen sind allerdings invasiv geworden und konkurrieren dort mit einheimischen Kleidervögeln.
