How to Tell Them Apart

Males have a blue-grey head and tail with a rufous back spotted with black. Females are rufous-brown with heavy barring. Both have a dark moustachial stripe.

Turmfalke
Der Turmfalke ist der häufigste Falke Europas und bekannt für seine Fähigkeit, bei der Jagd reglos im Wind zu rütteln, während er nach Beute Ausschau hält. Der Virginia-Uhu ist die kraftvollste und am weitesten verbreitete Eule Amerikas und trägt daher den Beinamen Tiger des Himmels. Er zählt zu den frühesten Brutvögeln und legt seine Eier oft schon im Januar, wenn noch Schnee liegt. Der Virginia-Uhu ist ein gefürchteter Jäger, der regelmäßig Beute erlegt, die bis zu dreimal so schwer ist wie er selbst.
