64–74 cm. Dark brown above; white belly and undertail; yellowish bill. The most widespread booby; breeds pantropically on islands worldwide. Feeds on fish and squid near land by plunge-diving; often follows ships. Ground or bush nester; aggressive and bold near colonies.
