The Black-cheeked Gnateater is a small, plump bird of humid forest in coastal Brazil, with males bearing a distinctive bold black cheek patch and a white postocular tuft against chestnut-brown plumage. It inhabits the dense undergrowth and forest floor of Atlantic Forest in eastern Brazil. It feeds on insects and other small invertebrates, foraging secretively near the ground.
