Inhabits subtropical and lower montane forests from northeastern India and Bangladesh through Myanmar to southwestern China and northern Indochina. Forages on the forest floor for seeds and invertebrates. Least Concern; widespread in lower Himalayan and Southeast Asian mountain forests.
