Indian Courser: 23–25 cm, elegant Sandy-and-chestnut courser with a bold white supercilium, chestnut crown, and black eye-stripe. Resident on dry open stony and sandy plains, fallow fields, and river banks of the Indian subcontinent. Crepuscular insectivore. Runs rapidly. Sedentary or locally nomadic following rains.

Bronze-winged Courser: 25–28 cm, large nocturnal courser with glossy bronze wing-coverts, dark brown upperparts, and a red eye-ring. Resident in dry miombo and acacia woodland of sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal to Ethiopia and south to Zimbabwe. Insectivorous; most active at night. Cryptic and difficult to see in daytime.
