O parreco-cubano é um pato assobiadeiro grande encontrado nas Antilhas, principalmente Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola e ilhas adjacentes. Tem coloração escura com ventre e flancos fortemente malhados de branco. Habita zonas húmidas costeiras, manguezais e lagoas de interior. É o maior pato assobiadeiro. Está classificado como vulnerável devido à perda de habitat e caça. Como outros parrecos, empoleira-se em árvores e é mais ativo ao anoitecer e ao amanhecer.
