Lowland humid forest in the western Amazon basin of Peru, Ecuador, and adjacent Colombia and Brazil. Prefers undisturbed terra firme and seasonally flooded forest interior below 400 m.
Thicket Tinamou
Dry tropical and subtropical forest, scrubland, thickets, and second growth from sea level to 1,500 m, from Mexico through Central America to northwestern Colombia. Tolerates heavily degraded and secondary habitats.

Bartlett's Tinamou
Inambu-de-Bartlett (Crypturellus bartletti) — Inambu do sub-bosque de florestas amazônicas do Peru e extremo norte do Brasil. Plumagem acastanhada com padrão distinto. Habita florestas de terra firme densas. Como todos os inambus, é extremamente difícil de observar, detectado principalmente pelo canto suave e melancólico ao amanhecer.
Thicket Tinamou
A medium-sized tinamou with rich cinnamon-brown plumage, barred wings, and a pale throat. Widespread in dry forest and thickets from Mexico to northern Colombia. Commonly heard calling with a repeated whistle in second-growth scrub and dry forest. Adapts well to degraded habitats.
