Cucal-maior (Centropus sinensis), 47–52 cm. Grande, com cabeça e partes inferiores negras com brilho azulado e asas castanho-avermelhadas. Olhos vermelhos, bico robusto. Amplamente distribuído em matagais, arrozais e bordas de florestas da Ásia Meridional e Sudeste Asiático. Alimenta-se de insetos, lagartos e ovos de aves.
