O Gavião-miúdo (Accipiter striatus) habita florestas em toda a América do Norte e América Central, com populações setentrionais migrando para o sul durante o inverno. Mede aproximadamente 24-34 cm, com machos consideravelmente menores que as fêmeas. Caracterizado pela cauda longa e asas curtas arredondadas. É o menor dos três Accipiter da América do Norte.
