Uma perdiz de médio porte da família Phasianidae, encontrada nos Balcãs e no sul da Europa. A Perdiz-rochosa (Alectoris graeca) habita encostas rochosas e áreas de matagal na Grécia, Albânia, Macedônia do Norte e Itália. Mede aproximadamente 32-35 cm. Semelhante à Chucar mas com franjas no colar preto. Alimenta-se de sementes, insetos e vegetação. É uma espécie residente que não realiza migrações. Enfrenta ameaças de perda de habitat e pressão de caça. Classificada como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.

Grey upperparts purer grey than Chukar; white face and throat with black gorget lacking streaks; bold chestnut and white barred flanks; red bill and legs; grey breast; white supercilium. Very similar to Chukar.
Habitat & Range

Resident of rocky alpine and subalpine slopes from the Alps and southern Italy through the Balkans to Greece and Turkey, at 1,500–2,500 m.

Eats seeds, leaves, shoots, and invertebrates in rocky Mediterranean mountain scrub.

Loud 'chuck-chuck-CHUKAR' calls from European alpine scree; similar to Chukar but slightly higher-pitched. Alarm is rapid cackling when flushed from rocks. Males call from rocky perches at dawn.
