Fynbos Buttonquail (Turnix hottentottus) is a small 14–16 cm buttonquail endemic to the fynbos biome of South Africa's Cape region. Sandy-brown with rufous tones and dark streaking; adapted to the unique fynbos shrubland.
Black-breasted Buttonquail
Black-breasted Buttonquail (Turnix melanogaster) is a medium 17–19 cm, striking buttonquail endemic to eastern Australia. Female has bold black face, throat and breast with white spotting; male duller. Inhabits dry vine thickets and rainforest edges in Queensland and northern New South Wales.
