중간 크기의 땅뻐꾸기로 체장 약 28cm이며, 갈색 윗면에 밝은 밤색 아랫면, 붉은 눈테를 갖는다. 멕시코에서 코스타리카까지 건조 및 반건조 지역의 숲과 관목지에 서식한다. 바닥에서 곤충, 도마뱀, 작은 씨앗을 먹는다. 관심 필요 종이다.
