About These Birds

European Shag

유럽가마우지(68–78cm, 날개 길이 95–110cm)는 광택 있는 녹색 검은 깃털에 번식기에 짧은 직립 볏과 노란 입가를 지닌다. 유럽 대서양 연안과 지중해 절벽에 번식하며 암초가 있는 바다에서 고기를 잡는다.

Macquarie Shag

63–75 cm. Black with purple-green gloss; white underparts; orange-yellow caruncles. Endemic to Macquarie Island (Australian subantarctic). Vulnerable; total population only a few thousand birds. Feeds on fish in cold sub-Antarctic waters; nests colonially on coastal cliffs.
