아프리카 동부와 아라비아 반도 남부의 건조한 반사막과 아리드 덤불에 사는 소형 쏙독새(21-23 cm). 모래 빛 갈색 몸통에 날개 덮깃에 별 모양의 흰 반점이 있다. 야행성 곤충 포식자다. 원격지 서식지로 연구가 부족하다.
