How to Tell Them Apart
Mees's Nightjar
Brown-grey upperparts with blackish crown streaks and pale buff mottling; buff-white supercilium; white chin patch; underparts barred pale buff and brown; closely resembles Large-tailed Nightjar but marginally paler.
Archbold's Nightjar
Brown and dark grey with rufous-buff vermiculations; whitish throat patch; pale buff supercilium contrasts with darker crown; no white wing or tail patches; tail barred; New Guinea highlands; few records.

Mees's Nightjar
인도네시아 소순다 열도에서 최근 분리된 쏙독새(24-26 cm). 큰꼬리 쏙독새와 밀접하게 관련되지만, 미묘하게 다른 울음소리와 깃털 색조를 가진다. 저지대 삼림과 삼림 가장자리에 사는 야행성 곤충 포식자다.

뉴기니아 아고산 초원과 숲에 서식하는 소형 쏙독새(~77g). 아치볼드야행소쏙독새라고도 불린다. 관심필요종.
